FAQ's
Frequently Asked
Questions
We've provided answers to many of our most frequently asked questions. Have a different question for our team? We're happy to help! Just send us an email at smcpeek@mcpeekcs.com.
How long do I have to stay off my new driveway?
We recommend staying off the new surface completely for at least 24 hours. You can typically walk on it after 2-3 days, but you should wait at least 7-10 days before driving or parking vehicles on it to allow the concrete to cure and gain sufficient strength.
Why does concrete crack, and how do you prevent it?
While minor shrinkage cracks are a natural part of curing, major cracks are often due to a poor installation. We prevent this by ensuring a solid, compacted base, using steel reinforcement like wire mesh, and cutting strategically placed control joints that encourage the concrete to crack in a clean, straight line.
What's the difference between a broom finish and a stamped finish?
A "broom finish" is the most common and cost-effective option, creating a durable, non-slip texture perfect for driveways and walkways. A "stamped finish" is a decorative option where patterns are pressed into the concrete to mimic the look of stone, brick, or tile.
